Wednesday morning was an ugly one for the cast and crew of Ugly Betty. After only four seasons ABC has decided to not continue the show and will air the season finale in April. In a joint statement, executive producer Silvio Horta and ABC president Steve McPherson said, "We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty‘s final season. We are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion."
Betty, which stars America Ferrera, pictured, as the titular character, has been suffering from poor ratings since its third season. The ratings fell further when the show was moved to Fridays. The show has only averaged 5.3 million viewers this season, down from 8.1 million viewers last season. –JOE GALBO
