The United States Postal Service announced last Friday that it would officially issue its new Mister Rogers Forever stamp on March 23 at 11 a.m. EST.
U.S. Postal Service Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer Megan J. Brennan will issue the new stamp at the WQED Fred Rogers Studio in Pittsburgh, where Mister Rogers was filmed.
“Fred Rogers (1928–2003) was known as a beloved television neighbor to generations of children,” the U.S. Postal Service’s announcement read. “His groundbreaking public television series ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood’ inspired and educated young viewers with warmth, sensitivity and honesty.”
The Mister Rogers Forever stamp joins other icons being commemorated with Forever stamps this year, including John Lennon, Sally Ride and Lena Horne. Past Forever stamp icons include Dorothy Height, John F. Kennedy and Henry David Thoreau.
