U.S. Olympic Skater Marai Nagasu Criticizes Her Teammates, Wants To Be On ‘Dancing With The Stars’
U.S. Olympic skater Mirai Nagasu has criticized her teammates, boasted about her losing performance and noted her desire to be a star.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Nagasu wasn’t just another humble competitor. ”I smiled in the middle of my program, which is really rare for me. So I enjoyed myself, and I thought of this as my audition for Dancing With the Stars. I would like to be on Dancing With the Stars because I want to be a star.”

As she said this, she was smiling the entire time with no indication of disappointment. In her performance, she was supposed to do a triple axel, yet she didn’t attempt it. “Although I got zero points for my attempt at the triple axel, in my mind I went for it,” she said.
She boasted about her performance, while also throwing her teammates’ efforts under the bus. “I saved the team event, with Adam [Rippon] and the Shibutanis. we were about to lose our medals,” she said. “So today I put my [bronze] medal in my pocket. Here she is! And I said, ‘Mirai, you’ve done your job already. This is all just icing.’”
Nagasu also called out one of her teammates, Gabrielle Daleman. “I’d like to point out that [Daleman], who is an Olympic gold medalist, didn’t have a strong outing here in the individual,” she said.
