Tye Trujillo, 12-Year-Old Son Of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Makes Debut With Korn [VIDEO]

Tye Trujillo, the 12-year-old son of Metallica’s bassist Robert Trujillo, made his debut as the touring bassist for the band Korn on Monday in Bogota, Colombia. The addition of the young phenom was first announced in the beginning of April.

On his very first night on tour, Trujillo graced the crowd with a bass solo. A concert goer captured the perfomance on the video below.

Trujillo will continue his stay with the band throughout the South American leg of their Serenity of Summer Tour. Korn has several upcoming shows in Brazil, and one in Peru, Argentina, and Chile, all of which Trujillo will perform in.

Trujillo is filling in for Korn’s permanent bassist, Reginald ‘Fieldy’ Arvizu, who was unable to make the South American leg of the tour due to unforeseen circumstances.

When not touring with one of the most famous nu metal bands, Trujillo plays bass for the Northern California band, The Helmets. The youthful band is made up entirely of children around the same age as Trujillo.

Despite their age, the band has already seen success – they opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in May 2016. Robert Trujillo, who has played bass for Metallica since 2003, posted a picture of his son’s band with the Chili Peppers to his Facebook.

While on tour with Korn, the younger Trujillo has begun to document the views from his South American hotel rooms, posting several pictures to Instagram. “Hotel room view,” one caption simply reads.

While his run with Korn may be ending soon, Trujillo has already established himself as an elite talent with a budding career open and in front of him.
