Two llamas went on the run in Arizona Thursday, Feb. 26, prompting a live chase that captivated news anchors, comedians and viewers alike.
Dubbed the Black Llama and the White Llama, the llamas – one black and one white – ended up running wild in Phoenix on Thursday, straying around a park and into the roads as men and women tried to grab them.
It’s unclear from where the llamas escaped, but once it became clear that the llamas would not be easy, local news outlets began live-streaming the chase, and it quickly went viral. The llama chase went live on national outlets, including Fox News and CNN.
Many viewers went to Twitter to live-tweet the chase, with hashtags #teamllama and #llamas and ‘White Llama’ trending. Eventually, some of the men trying to catch the llamas on the run started using lassoes. The Black Llama was caught after over half an hour, with White Llama following soon after.
