Two and a Half Men, after 12 seasons on air and a couple major character shifts, has set the date for its final episode.
CBS announced Friday that Two and Half Men’s hour-long finale would air on the network Thursday, Feb. 19 at 9/8c.
For eight seasons, Charlie Sheen was the lead on CBS’s hit comedy alongside John Cryer and “the half” Angus T. Jones. Following Sheen’s dramatic exit in 2011, Ashton Kutcher came in to replace the Platoon actor from season 9 on. Despite the shakeup, Two and a Half Men managed to continue averaging more than 10 million viewers an episode.
Jones decided to leave Two and Half Men following the show’s 10th season, citing religious reasons and urging watchers to cease viewing what he came to see as filth. Even with another one of the main stars watching, Two and Half Men thrived on the network.
For five consecutive seasons during its 12-season run, Two and a Half Men was the most watched comedy on TV. Additionally, it received 47 Emmy Award nominations, which resulted in two wins for Cryer.
Taking over Two and a Half Men’s coveted Thursday timeslot will be Matthew Perry’s latest sitcom vehicle The Odd Couple. Perry will play Oscar Madison opposite Thomas Lennon’s Felix Unger. Gilmore Girls and Parenthood star Lauren Graham, who previously dated Perry, is also expected to make an appearance as Oscar’s ex-wife. The Odd Couple will premiere Feb. 19 at 8:30 p.m. EST.
