‘Twins’ Stars Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny DeVito Reunite For 2023 White House Correspondents’ Dinner

The 2023 White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C. kicked off with an opening message from Arnold Schwarzenegger on Saturday night, with a surprise appearance by Danny DeVito, who starred alongside Schwarzenegger as genetically engineered fraternal twins in the 1988 comedy Twins.

The 75-year-old actor-turned-politician began his message by saying, “It’s fantastic to speak to all of you here for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Wow, what an event.”

“I didn’t come here to roast anybody or to make jokes or anything like that. I just simply wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you gathered here today because our country would not be the shining beacon of freedom that welcomes people like me without the free press. Let’s be honest about that,” the former governor of California said.

“I wouldn’t be the Arnold that you know without the press. That’s a fact. Every reporter, every photographer, every editor who has brought me or my message to the people, has made my life possible and successful,” the Terminator actor said, expressing his gratitude towards the press.

“So even though you’ve asked questions that annoy the hell out of me, I remind myself always that you are actually doing the people’s work. You’re the ally of the people, so never ever stop shining a light on the truth and informing the public,” Schwarzenegger said before DeVito and Schwarzenegger’s pet donkey and miniature horse made their surprise appearance in the opening message.

“I’m very proud of all of you, and it’s not just me. It’s Lulu and Whiskey and my twin brother, Danny DeVito,” Schwarzenegger said as he and DeVito fed his pets crackers. “We are all proud of you.”

Schwarzenegger then went on to introduce Tamara Keith, the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association.
