The popular TV series Twin Peaks will return to Showtime. The show originally aired its two seasons in 1990 and 1991. There was then a movie released the year after.
Some of the usual suspects for the cast returned, such as Kyle MacLachlan, who will reclaim his role of FBI agent Dale Cooper, along with Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), and Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer).
There is also an influx of new actors. Australians Naomi Watts, Gia Carides and Eamon Farren, who is making his U.S. TV debut in the series, headline new members of the cast.
Also being introduced to the series are Amanda Seyfried, Ashley Judd, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Laura Dern, Michael Cera and musician Trent Reznor, among a slew of other superstars.
There were also a few cast members who were slighted from the remake, among them was Heather Graham, whose character played a pivotal role in the original series’ cliff-hanger. Other fellow actors who were left out include Lara Flynn Boyle and Piper Laurie.
The revival run of the show is “based on a throwaway line in which murdered schoolgirl Laura Palmer says she will return in 25 years,” according to 9News.
The series has been in production for a year, and principal photography recently finished. The program will premiere next year.
