Tucker Carlson Says He’s ‘Flattered’ By Speculation That He’ll Be Trump’s 2024 Running Mate

In a podcast conversation with right-wing comedian Roseanne Barr on Tuesday, former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson gave his thoughts on recent rumors that former President Donald Trump might choose him as his running mate for 2024.

Carlson emphasized that the possibility is something beyond his control and acknowledged that regardless of whether it would be a positive or negative development, the likelihood of such a scenario was highly improbable.

He claimed he was “flattered” by the idea, but considered it as likely as an “asteroid striking the Earth.”

When pressed by Barr on whether he would accept if asked, Carlson said, “I guess I’d have to think about that.”

“I mean, I have spent my whole life looking at politicians and commenting on them and passing judgment on them, and I’ve never run for, you know, room mother,” he added. “And so the idea of that is so far from anything I’ve ever done, it’s kind of hard even to imagine… I certainly support Trump I’ll tell you that.”

In early November, Trump had stated that he would consider Carlson as a running mate due to his “common sense.”

This development came as a surprise, as Carlson had famously expressed his distaste for Trump in private texts after the 2020 election.

Carlson’s texts declared: “I hate him passionately,” and emphasized his anticipation for Trump to leave the White House. The texts were revealed in March as part of a $1.6 billion Dominion Voting Systems defamation suit against the network.

However, Trump and Carlson appear to have since smoothed things over.

In the podcast conversation with Barr, Carlson backtracked on his texts and said that he has always supported Trump’s policies and found common ground with him.

Carlson was fired from Fox News in April earlier this year after his racist text messages were revealed during the lawsuit.

Carlson told Barr, “I agree with Trump on a lot, but even if I disagreed with Trump on a lot, I’d still be a Trump supporter because you cannot allow the regime of the president of the United States to use the Justice Department to knock the front runner out of the race. It’s bigger than Trump. It’s bigger than Biden. It’s a question of, you know, do you want to live in a free country with a functioning justice system.”
