Donald Trump‘s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was asked about Tucker Carlson being a potential vice presidential running mate with his father. Trump Jr. responded that the option was “on the table” in an interview on Newsmax.
Carlson is known for his commentary on Fox News but was fired following a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems that cost the network $800 million. The settlement came after a lawsuit against Fox News for spreading false information about the 2020 presidential election.
Carlson has then launched his own subscription-based streaming service called the Tucker Carlson Network.
He remains under a multimillion-dollar contract with Fox News, and the right-wing network sent him a cease-and-desist order over his new venture.
Trump Jr. also stated the nature of his father and Carlson’s relationship: “I mean they’re very friendly, I think they agree on virtually all of these things . . . And so, I would love to see that happen. That could certainly be a contender.”
Trump has said in the past that Carlson would be considered as a running mate because “he’s got great common sense.” When asked about the possibility recently, Carlson claimed he was “flattered” but that it was unlikely.
