After one of Tucker Carlson’s top writers Blake Neff resigned due to anonymous racist comments he posted to online message boards, the Fox News host announced that he will be taking a vacation at the end of his show on Monday night.

Carlson said that he had a “long-planned” vacation after saying, “Well we’re out of time.” He stated, “Gonna spend the next four days trout fishing … this is one of those years where if you don’t get it in now, you’re probably not going to. Something dramatic happens, of course we’ll be back.”

Neff resigned after it was revealed that he had been posting anonymous racist comments online. Neff had recently responded to a 2018 thread titled, “Would u let a JET BLACK congo n—-er do lasik eye surgery on u for 50% off?” Neff said back, “I wouldn’t get LASIK from an Asian for free, so no.”

On June 5, Neff he wrote, “Black doods staying inside playing Call of Duty is probably one of the biggest factors keeping crime down,” and on June 24 he said, “Honestly given how tired black people always claim to be, maybe the real crisis is their lack of sleep.”

Fox “strongly condemned” Neff’s actions in an internal memo sent by CEO Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace, “We want to make abundantly clear that Fox News Media strongly condemns this horrific racist, misogynistic and homophobic behavior. Neff’s abhorrent conduct on this forum was never divulged to the show or the network until Friday, at which point we swiftly accepted his resignation. Make no mistake, actions such as his cannot and will not be tolerated at any time in any part of our work force.”

They then added that Carlson would address what had happened on his show on Monday night.

Last year Carlson himself had faced backlash for saying that white supremacy was a “hoax.” At the end of his show during that time he said that he and his son were going “to the wilderness to fish.”
