Former President Donald Trump has lashed out yet again at the January 6 Committee investing the Capitol riot, calling it a “disgrace.”

The investigation has advanced significantly recently. They obtained the phone records of Eric Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle and received permission last week from the Supreme Court to obtain presidential records Trump attempted to block. They have also requested an interview from Ivanka Trump, 40, who was a senior adviser in the Administration.

In an interview with The Washington Examiner, Trump attempted to discredit the committee’s motivations. “It’s a very unfair situation for my children. Very, very unfair,” he began the call. He later accused the investigation of obfuscating Joe Biden’s failings as his first year comes to a close. “They’re using these things to try and get people’s minds off how incompetently our country is being run. And they don’t care. They’ll go after children.”

Trump took a threatening tone towards the end of the call, where he said that the committee’s focus on his children’s involvement in the Capitol Riots could set a “very bad precedent because it can happen the other way also.” He was referring to Hunter Biden, the second son of President Joe Biden who has become the subject of several conservative conspiracies theories pushed by Trump. These theories accuse Hunter of acting on his father’s behalf while serving on the board of energy company Burisma Holdings during Biden’s term as Vice President.

The former President is also facing a fraud investigation fronted by New York Attorney General Letitia James, whose office recently released a statement last week that they have “significant evidence” that the Trump Organization fraudulently inflated its value for certain benefits. Trump once again attacked James personally and called the investigation politically motivated. “She campaigned on a whole issue of ‘I’ll get Trump. I’ll get Trump.’ And that’s all it was,” he stated.
