Trump Says The ‘Sick’ Left In U.S. Is More Dangerous Than ‘Russia’ & ‘China’ At Christian Media Convention

Donald Trump delivered a spirited speech at the National Religious Broadcasters International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, where he drew parallels between domestic political opponents and foreign enemies of the past.

Trump emphasized that the greatest threat to America lies within the country and described these individuals as “sick,” with the assertion that they pose a more significant danger than adversaries from abroad.

Trump stated, “1944 was the year of D-Day, the Battle of Bulge and our country was at war with an enemy that wanted to extinguish our way of life forever… But here at home, Christians knew that victory depended not only on the force of American arms but also on the faith in American hearts.”

He continued, “This time, the greatest threat is not from the outside of our country, I really believe this. It’s the people from within our country that are more dangerous. They’re very sick people.”

He added, “To achieve victory in this fight, just like in the battles of the past, we still need the hand of our Lord.”

“The left is trying to shame Christians,” Trump said. “They’re trying to shame us. I’m a very proud Christian,” Trump continued. “We can handle China, we can handle Russia… but the inside people are very dangerous.”

Trump’s speech took place just before the GOP presidential primary in South Carolina, where he currently holds a sizable lead over rival former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-South Carolina) in most polls.

Trump pledged to defend Christian values if elected to a second term in the White House and accused the left of attempts to dismantle religious symbols. In reference to the history of communist and fascist regimes, he claimed that such regimes have either sought to eradicate churches or manipulate and control them. Trump assured the audience that under his administration, the cross of Christ would remain untouched.

As leading conservatives increasingly call on Trump to center his second term around Christian values, Trump has garnered support from religious leaders and a solid base of loyal MAGA supporters. Despite a controversial personal history and legal challenges, such as an indictment in New York related to hush money payments to a porn star, Trump fans remain steadfast in their support.

While Trump’s speech energized the audience and received multiple standing ovations, he did not address the recent Alabama Supreme Court ruling impacting in vitro fertilization, a topic that drew attention from President Joe Biden‘s re-election campaign.

Instead, Trump focused on his first-term accomplishments, particularly his efforts to uphold religious freedom, such as the appointment of three conservative Supreme Court justices who played a role in overturning the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide.

With Tennessee’s primary on Super Tuesday, March 5, Trump’s appearance at the convention may further solidify his position as the front-runner. The convention, which distributed red and white baseball caps with the slogan “Make America Pray Again,” provided a friendly platform for Trump, and the atmosphere resembled a rally rather than a conventional speech.
