Trump Says It Would Be ‘Great Honor’ To Go To Jail For Violating His Gag Order, Compares Himself To Nelson Mandela

On Sunday, former President Donald Trump declared that it would be “my great honor” to go to jail for violating a gag order in his hush-money case, which is set to go to trial in a little over a week.

On April 15, Trump will head to the New York state court in Manhattan due to criminal charges against him about covering up a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, to buy her silence about an affair before the 2016 election.

Justice Juan Merchan presided over the court in this case and expanded the gag order that prevented Trump from commenting about witnesses before the trial.

Last week, the order was expanded to apply to his family, prosecutors and court members. Trump repeatedly attacked Merchan’s daughter, who has done work for Democrats.

On Trump’s Truth Social account, he stated, “If this Partisan Hack wants to put me in the ‘clink’ for speaking the open and obvious truth, I will gladly become a Modern-Day Nelson Mandela—it will be my GREAT HONOR.”

Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records and denies any wrongdoing. He also denies having an encounter with Daniels. In March, Daniels revealed that she faced death threats from Trump supporters and was worried that she and her family would be harmed.
