Trump Name Removed From NYC Golf Course After 15 Years & Much Controversy

The “Trump Links” sign, named after former President Donald Trump, was removed from the Ferry Point golf course in New York City and replaced with a sign reading “Bally Links,” named after Bally’s Corporation.

This Bronx golf course was operated by the Trump Organization from 2015 to 2023.

The “Trump Links” sign could be seen from the Whitestone Bridge for almost ten years.

Last week, New York City Mayor Eric Adams cut the ribbon to unveil the new “Bally Links” sign.

“This day is about so much more than the changing of a sign,” Adams declared. “For far too long, this beautiful borough has been sitting on the sideline of the progression of our city. I want to thank Bally’s for having the vision, and I’m excited about the opportunities that will come out of this partnership.”

The Bally’s Golf Links at Ferry Point has an 18-hole, 180-acre golf course as well as a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse.

Bally’s Corporation hopes to gain one of three undecided casino licenses allocated for downstate New York.

Despite the corporation’s efforts, some community members are already fighting against the casino. City Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato stated that she is against the bid by the Bally’s casino chain to place a casino in her district.

In 2023, Bally’s partnered with the Throgg’s Neck community for a free shuttle program for residents, which offers connections to the Throgg’s Neck Ferry Landing as well as other public transit options.

“Our investment in Bally’s Golf Links at Ferry Point represents our significant commitment to the Bronx,” said Bally’s Chairman Soo Kim. “As a dedicated community partner, Bally’s has been actively listening to the needs of the Bronx community.”

After the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots, then-New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio proposed canceling the contract with the Trump Organization. He argued that the former president urging the rioters gave the city legal authority to do this.

A state judge rejected de Blasio’s argument.

Back in September 2023, the Trump Organization sold Bally’s operating rights for $60 million.

The lease’s terms were originally first revealed in November 2023 during Trump’s civil trial.

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., while under questioning, stated that the Trump Organization received a great deal of money while managing the course but that he did not know if they had turned a profit.

The trial ended on January 11 after the former president presented closing arguments against the judge’s orders. A decision is expected by the end of the month.
