Trump Mocks Former RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel Following Her Termination By NBC News

Former President Donald Trump has ridiculed the former Republican National Committee (RNC) chair Ronna McDaniel on Truth Social twice after she was terminated by NBC News.

NBC News fired McDaniel as a political analyst just days after hiring her after a revolt among its anchors and staffers at the news division, who asked why a person who supported Trump’s false statements about the 2020 election was hired in the first place.

“Wow,” Trump wrote. “Ronna McDaniel got fired by Fake News NBC. She only lasted two days, and this after McDaniel went out of her way to say what they wanted to hear. It leaves her in a very strange place, it’s called NEVER NEVERLAND, and it’s not a place you want to be.”

“These Radical Left Lunatics are CRAZY, and the top people at NBC ARE WEAK,” the former president went on to say. “They were BROKEN and EMBARRASSED by LOW RATINGS, HIGHLY OVERPAID, ‘TALENT.’ BRING BACK FREE AND FAIR PRESS – MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN 2024!”

Trump mocked McDaniel in another Truth Social post the following day.

“What boss or executive would allow a man or woman, in this case Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd, who was fired for dismal performance coupled with horrendous television ratings, to publicly SCOLD them as to their weakness & stupidity in hiring Ronna McDaniel,” he asked in this post. “Actually, they should be scolded for hiring “Sleepy” for Meet the Fake Press, and keeping him on so long despite his poor performing skills, bad ratings, and bias.”

“The sick degenerates over at MSDNC are really running NBC, and there seems nothing Chairman Brian Roberts can do about it,” he then claimed. “Watching Chuck Todd, of all people, viciously giving Roberts a piece of his small mind, and then berating him for hiring Ronna without his, or the other lunatics, approval, was just a step too far. Brian’s great father would have fired Chuck Todd, and all the rest of these losers, on the spot. Perhaps Brian still will. If I knew Ronna was going to troubled MSNBC, I would have advised her to change her name back to Romney, she would have had a better chance!”

Executives at NBC have been under fire from all sides over the botched hiring.

“There is no doubt that the last several days have been difficult for the News Group,” NBCUniversal News Group President Cesar Conde said to the staff in an email. “After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor.”

“I want to personally apologize to our team members who felt we let them down,” Conde added. “While this was a collective recommendation by some members of our leadership team, I approved it and take full responsibility for it.”

On March 22, NBC News trumpeted the announcement of McDaniel’s hiring.

When announcing her hiring on March 22, the network addressed how her political background contributed editorial and ideological balance of its coverage.

McDaniel was supposed to be involved in the coverage of the 2024 campaign, including election nights.

She joined the NBC News journalist Kristen Welker on Meet the Press on March 24 for her first interview as a paid employee. She was expected to contribute to both NBC News and MSNBC.

In early March, McDaniel stepped down as RNC chair after Trump pushed her out after serving for seven years in service as a result of poor fundraising results.

The RNC’s membership unanimously elected North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley to become the committee’s new chairman, and Trump’s daughter, Lara Trump, to serve as their co-chair.

McDaniel also spoke out about her termination from NBC, saying that wants to be fully paid out for her contract, two years at $300,000 a year, since she had not breached its terms.

In September 2023, Trump wrote a Truth Social post, pledging he would have NBC News and MSNBC investigated for “country-threatening treason.”

He then criticized news organizations for their investigation into whether or not Russia influenced the 2016 election and argued that it was a “big campaign contribution” to the Democrats. He said that these media companies should not be “entitled to use the very valuable Airwaves of the USA” for free.

Trump announced in his statement on Truth Social that if he wins “the Presidency of the United States,” these networks “and others of the LameStream Media will be thoroughly scrutinized for their knowingly dishonest and corrupt coverage of people, things, and events.”
