In a new interview, President Donald Trump said that he was surprised by the “nasty” comments that Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle had made about him.
Just ahead of his state visit of the United Kingdom, Trump told the British tabloid The Sun that he was not aware that Markle had called him “divisive” and “misogynistic” during his 2016 presidential campaign. Regardless of those remarks, Trump said that he hopes Markle, an American-born actress, will succeed as a member of the royal family.
Trump is set to meet many members of the royal family including Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Camilla Parker Bowles. Prince Harry, Markle’s husband, will be joining Trump for a private lunch along with Prince Williams and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. Markle, who recently gave birth to a baby boy, will still be on maternity leave during his visit and will not be joining them.
