Trump Calls GOP Candidate Who Lost N.Y. House Seat, Mazi Pilip, ‘A Very Foolish Woman’

In an eruption of frustration, former President Donald Trump took to his social platform Truth Social on Tuesday night to express his frustration toward Republican candidate Mazi Pilip for her loss in the special election to replace the disgraced ex-Rep. George Santos (R-New York).

In his social media post, Trump labeled the Republican candidate for New York’s Third Congressional District as a “very foolish woman.”

He wrote, “Republicans just don’t learn, but maybe she was still a Democrat? I have an almost 99% Endorsement Success Rate in Primaries, and a very good number in the General Elections, as well, but just watched this very foolish woman, Mazi Melesa Pilip, running in a race where she didn’t endorse me and tried to ‘straddle the fence,’ when she would have easily WON if she understood anything about MODERN DAY politics in America.”

Pilip, who lost to former Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-New York), had been a registered Democrat since 2012. Throughout the campaign in the swing district, which favored President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, she maintained a cautious distance from Trump. Nevertheless, she did acknowledge in an interview with Fox 5 that Trump had accomplished positive things for the country.

Trump vented, “MAGA, WHICH IS MOST OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, STAYED HOME – AND IT ALWAYS WILL, UNLESS IT IS TREATED WITH THE RESPECT THAT IT DESERVES. I STAYED OUT OF THE RACE, ‘I WANT TO BE LOVED!’ GIVE US A REAL CANDIDATE IN THE DISTRICT FOR NOVEMBER. SUOZZI, I KNOW HIM WELL, CAN BE EASILY BEATEN!”

The special election was viewed as a potential indicator leading up to the November elections. Pilip attempted to associate Suozzi with Biden, whose approval ratings have suffered throughout his presidency and criticized him on the subject of immigration.

Suozzi, on the other hand, made a deliberate effort to distance himself from Biden. He presented himself as a moderate dealmaker and publicly supported the bipartisan border deal, which was ultimately rejected by Republicans.

As the nation anticipates the possibility of a Biden-Trump rematch, concerns about Biden’s age were reignited last week after a special counsel report that emphasized worries about his memory.

Meanwhile, Trump has sparked concerns with his endeavors to reshape the Republican Party, and endorses ally Michael Whatley and his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, as potential leaders of the Republican National Committee.
