Country music singer Travis Tritt has canceled several performances at venues that have taken COVID-19 safety procedures. The shows he canceled were in Indiana, Mississippi, Illinois and Kentucky.

The venues all had some kind of safety requirement including wearing masks, a negative COVID-19 test result or proof of vaccination.

Tritt came to decision after several of his fans complained to him about being turned away from venues for not being vaccinated.

Tritt said that he is not against the vaccine, but is against mandates put in place by concert venues.

“I totally disagree with any mandate that would force people to go against their better judgment or would attack their personal freedoms,” he said. “That’s why I am making this stand,” Tritt said. “And I know, straight up, it’s definitely gonna cost me money and that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.”

He went on to say that he considers mandates like this to be discrimination and shaming.
