Travis Kelce Says His Struggle Reading Made Hosting ‘SNL’ Tough
Travis Kelce is known for having a funny and energetic personality, traits that were evident when he hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live in 2023.
Kelce recently revealed that despite having fun hosting the show, he struggled as a guy who “can’t really read that well.”
“It was kind of a f— situation,” Kelce said on the Bussin With the Boys podcast. “I felt like I was just trying to get through the reading instead of acting it out, and giving it a voice, and giving it a character, and things like that. I was just focused on, ‘Don’t f—- skip this line, you know what I mean.”
Kelce’s struggles during the table read were not apparent during the show. He breezed through skit after skit, with his humor showing through.
When it was over, fans were largely happy with Kelce’s performance on the 49-year-old show.
He conquered his fears by the end of the night, which had taken over his mind. He said he was awake every night until two or three in the morning, trying to perfect his lines.
“I want to have fun doing it, but I don’t want to look like a loser doing it,” Kelce said.
His appearance on SNL was not the only time Kelce has appeared on the show. He and Taylor Swift made cameos on the season 49 premiere in October.
Kelce is considered one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, but his influence has expanded well beyond the sports world. His personality, combined with his relationship with Swift, has made him a popular figure in pop culture.
Kelce’s poor performance in the Super Bowl led to rumors of his retirement from football, but he seems to be preparing to stay in the game for the foreseeable future.
