Smith was arrested after allegedly choking a woman half his age on April 1. Within the next 24 hours, Decoutere tweeted that she was leaving the show.

The actress tweeted, “If I find out that somebody is abusive, I cut them out of my life. It’s very easy.” and she also tweeted, “I have resigned from Trailer Park Boys.”

Smith has since been released on $20,000 bail. Police haven’t released details of the charge against Smith, but he issued a statement in which he denies assaulting another woman.

“At no time did I assault her. I am not guilty of the misdemeanour charged against me,” Smith says.

Georgia Ling, the alleged victim in the case, also disputed the assault charge, saying someone overheard an argument between the two and called police.

“At no point did I feel I was in danger, otherwise I would’ve called the police myself, which I did not,” she said in a statement. “The police were called by others not present in the room who mistakenly perceived the argument to be something other than what it was.”

No other statement has been released pertaining to his arrest.
