TRAILER: ‘Dredd’ Debuts One-Minute Clip At Comic-Con
The next comic-book-to-film adaptation that promises to take the world by storm is called Dredd, based on the Carlos Ezquerra and John Wagner characters that were also adapted into the Sylvester Stallone film, Judge Dredd, in 1995.
The new version of Dredd will star Karl Urban (The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The Bourne Supremacy) as the main character, Judge Dredd, Olivia Thirlby (No Strings Attached, Juno) as love interest Cassandra Anderson, and Game of Thrones‘ own Lena Headey as the evil Ma-Ma who wages war to keep a hold on her violent, impoverished empire.
Dredd, a futuristic dystopian thriller that follows the new ‘judges’ of society — or highly trained urban cops — was directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point, Endgame) and written by Alex Garland, who worked on such films as 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and Never Let Me Go.
Dredd hits theaters on September 21, 2012 in both 3D and 2D.
