Tourists Who Were Filmed Speeding Through Venice Grand Canal On Motorized Surfboards Fined & Banned For Life

Two fratty “foreign tourists” got in hot water with the local Venice government when they were filmed using loud motorized surfboards to surf along the Italian city’s historic Grand Canal.

The tourists annoyed residents so much that Venice’s Mayor, Luigi Brugnaro, even tweeted out a photo of their escapades asking for help in identifying them.

The mayor called the riders “overbearing idiots” and said that for anyone who can spot them, “I offer them a dinner!”

He even angrily added, “I ask everyone to help us identify and punish them, even if our weapons are really blunt – mayors need more powers in terms of public safety.”

The mayor made full use of whatever “blunt” powers were afforded to him.

According to authorities, the men were located by Thursday morning and fined $1,500 each, had their boards confiscated, and were banned from ever going back to Venice for life.

The identify and nationality of these two dudes have not been revealed, but it would be extremely surprising if they weren’t American.

Some locals roasted the mayor for zeroing in on this issue when Venice is plagued with over-tourism on a bigger scale, which if left unchecked could erode and destroy the foundations of the historic city and price out longtime residents as the city adjusts to serve a tourist economy.
