‘Total Divas’ Recap: Nikki & Brie Beat John Cena & Bryan Danielson In A Wood-Chopping Contest

Total Divas' second episode began with with WWE DIVA Newbies Eva Marie and JoJo in the stands watching WWE Raw matches together. When Eva Marie sees WWE Superstar Fandago take to the stage, twirling a woman about in a ballroom dance, she gets it in her head that she can take that woman’s spot. After his match, Eva seeks out Fandago and offers to be his dancer, false claiming that she has dance experience. Not knowing Eva just lied, Fandago suggests she turn up for auditions.

Another lively event is a doubles Diva match between The Bella Twins, Nikki and Brie, and The Funkadactyls, Ariana and Trinity. When the Bella Twins sneakily swap each other out – a move called “Twin Magic” – Nikki seals their victory. But when the ref realizes their gimmick, he declares The Funkadactyls the winners by default. Later on, The Funkadactyl’s Ariane sets off to find a new costumer to give her and Trinity a new and improved look. When the new costumes Ariane had designed for her and Trinity are in, Ariene’s fits her perfectly. Trinity’s, unfortunately, does not. As she put it: “All my cookies are hanging out.” The Funkadactyls are then forced to wear one of their old costumes – bright orange disco inspired numbers with matching pompoms.

Deciding it’s time for a little vacation, Nikki, Brie, John Cena and Bryan Danielson are heading out to John’s Florida digs for a few days. Nikki gossips about Eva Marie’s obnoxious efforts to get noticed by John, but gets rebuffed by John who says there’s something admirable about her persistence. In her one-on-one with the camera, Nikki says, “I’m a lioness. I’m protective of my own. When I feel like people are threating mine, well, then you see the lion come out."

Back with Eva Marie and JoJo, they’re relaxing in their hotel room. They get a knock on the door, and who’s behind it? It’s Eva Marie’s boyfriend Jonathan who popped over for a surprise visit – which includes a proposal. Eva Marie says yes to her beau of two months and he slips the massive rock over her finger. But the ring comes off the next day after Jonathan leaves, when Eva Marie gets ready to meet with Fandango. The audition, despite the absence of the engagement ring, goes badly. She later has a meeting with WWE bigwigs, who tell her if she embarrasses the company again, she’s going to get the boot.

In Florida, the gang has arrived at John’s sprawling mansion and take a dive in his indoor-outdoor swimming pool. Before they can get too comfortable, it’s time to head off to the second leg of the trip up to Bryan’s place in Washington. At his modest rural abode, they decide to have a WWE vs Diva wood-chopping contest. First the Divas try to distract the men, but when that fails they get to work chopping. It looks like a win is out of reach for them until Bryan picks up the ax and takes his sweet time plowing through the wood. The Divas end up the victors.

Total Divas airs Sundays on E! at 10/9c.
