After being sentenced to jail for ten years, Tory Lanez has spoken out about being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

In a post dedicated to his fans, Lanez took to Instagram to assert that he is innocent.

He started off by addressing his fans, who he calls “Umbrellas,” and explained that he will not be changed by his conviction. “To The Umbrellas, I have never let a hard time intimidate me. I will never never let no jail time eliminate me. Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will.”

He clarified his viewpoint and that he only “took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved… That’s it.” He continued saying, “In no way shape, or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do.”

Lanez’s sentencing was Tuesday after he was found guilty of shooting Megan in the foot in December 2022 while at an after-party at Kylie Jenner’s home.

Lanez spoke about how he will come out of this strong and is not intimated. “I’ve faced adversity my whole life and every time it looked like I would lose, I came out on top. This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious.”

He ended his statement by thanking everyone for sticking by his side, “Tough times don’t last, tough people do. To my family, friends and Umbrellas thank you for your continued support. See you soon.”

Lanez was found guilty of three felony firearm charges, which include discharging a firearm with gross negligence, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and assault with a semiautomatic handgun.

During the trial, he asked the judge for a lesser sentence so that he could “prove” himself. He told Judge David Herriford, “I’m standing in front of you as a father to a six-year-old who needs me every step of the way. There’s been this misconception about me being this monster, not having remorse, that’s just not true.”

He continued, “That night, everyone was drunk, I said things I shouldn’t have said. The victim was my friend, I still care about her. We both lost mothers, we’d sit there and drink until we felt numb. Everything I did wrong that night I take responsibility for.”

Megan was not at the hearing, but prosecutors read a pre-written statement by her. “I struggle with being present. After everything that occurred I cannot bring myself back to being in the same room with Tory,” she wrote. “I’ve been tormented and terrorized. He paid bloggers to disseminate false information, he treated my trauma like a joke when I could’ve been dead. He blamed the system, he blamed the press, and as of late he is using his childhood trauma to justify his actions.”
