Top 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards Go To 'Argo,' 'Les Miserables,' 'Girls,' 'Homeland'

The 70th Annual Golden Globes offered many surprises Sunday night with Argo taking home the Best Picture—Drama honor and Ben Affleck earning the Best Director award. Les Miserables won in the Motion Picture—Comedy or Musical category, and also won for Tom Hooper's screenplay adaptation, Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway and Best Actor—Comedy or Musical for Hugh Jackman. Lincoln, which had topped the Golden Globe nominations with 7, only took home one award with Daniel Day-Lewis winning Best Actor in a Motion Picture—Drama for his turn as the 16th president.

Homeland cleaned up in the three categories for a dramatic TV series—Damien Lewis for Best Actor, Claire Danes for Best Actress and Best TV Series—Drama. Game Change took home trophies for Best Made For TV Movie, Best Actress and Best Actor in a TV Movie, with Julianne Moore and Ed Harris taking home the individual awards. Lena Dunham went two for two, picking up a Golden Globe for herself for Best Actress in a TV Series—Comedy or Musical and Best TV Series—Comedy or Musical for her work on Girls.

Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler memorably joked about Anne Hathaway and James Franco's vacant performance on the Academy Awards and warned Taylor Swift to stay away from Michael J. Fox's young son.
