Allison Janney won a Golden Globe awards on Sunday for her role on I, Tonya. She offered thanks to those who helped her, including Tonya Harding, who made a surprise appearance at the show.

During her speech, Janney thanked Harding for “sharing her story” through the movie.

Janney continued, saying, “What I love about this movie… what this movie did is tell a story about class in America, tell a story about the disenfranchised, tell the story about a woman who was not embraced for her individuality, tell a story about truth and the perception of truth in the media and truths we all tell ourselves…. It’s an extraordinary movie and I’m so proud of it.” Janney also thanked her co-star Margot Robbie, who played Harding in the film.

Harding attended the event alongside the cast of I, Tonya, which detailed her career as an Olympic figure skater. It takes care to cover the infamous incident in 1994 when Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly hired assassins to sabotage her then-rival, Nancy Kerrigan. This scandal ended her figure skating career.

Sebastian Stan, who played Gillooly in I, Tonya, posted an image on his Instagram account of Harding and Tommy Wiseau, who also made an unexpected appearance at the show. The photograph is humorously captioned, “Happy 2018!”
