Tony Yahle, Ohio Man Confirmed Dead, Comes Back To Life After 45 Minutes

Tony Yahle’s heart stopped for 45 minutes earlier this month before medical staff at the Ohio hospital he was being treated at was miraculously able to revive him.

Yahle, 37, had been breathing irregularly while sleeping beside his wife Melissa Yahle on the morning of Aug. 5. When she was unable to wake him, she called an ambulance so he could be rushed to a nearby hospital.

While he was being evaluated at the hospital, Tony Yahle’s heart stopped altogether, causing the line on the monitor to remain flat, reported WHIO TV. Doctors, including Dr. Raja Nazir, attempted to get Yahle’s heart beating for 45 minutes to no avail. After doctors confirmed his death, Yahle’s 17-year-old son Lawrence went to his father’s side and pleaded with him to stay alive.

“Dad, you’re not going to die today,” Lawrence said, reported ABC News.

Following the teenage son’s plea, the heart monitor began catching heartbeats a couple of times per minute. Noticing the small improvement, Nazir decided that they had to try again to revive the young father. Eventually, Yahle’s heart resumed a normal beat, and more surprisingly, it doesn’t require surgery.

"In the last 20 years, I've never seen anybody who we have pronounced dead … and then for him to come back, I've never seen it," Nazir told the Dayton Daily News. "Actually, I've never heard of it."

Now, less than a month past his unlikely survival, Yahle’s heart’s condition is well enough to permit him to share his remarkable story.
