Tony Awards 2018 Winners List, ‘The Band’s Visit’ Leads With 10 Awards

The 72nd annual Tony Awards show was held on Sunday, where the musical The Band’s Visit took home ten awards to dominate the night.
The Band’s Visit is based off a 2007 film that unites eight Egyptian musicians with Israelis who provide them a place to stay when they accidentally arrive in Israel’s Negev Desert.
The show’s producer, Orin Wolf, accepted the Best New Musical award and said the production’s display of overcoming ethnic barriers sends a unifying message.
“In The Band’s Visit, music gives people hope and makes borders disappear,” Wolf said. “It offers a message of unity in a world that more and more seems bent on amplifying our differences.”
