Tone Loc, the 47-year-old rapper known for hits like “Funky Cold Medina,” collapsed on stage over the weekend at a tour stop in Iowa.
Tone Loc, born Anthony T. Smith, caused his concert to come to a sudden end when he collapsed after finishing a song during the Saturday show. When the rapper fell to the stage, fans there to see him perform were asked to vacate the premises, according to the Des Moines Register.
Paramedics responded after Tone Loc collapsed, and advised the “Wild Thing” rapper to go to the hospital. He refused the medical advice, Police Sgt. Steve Woody told the Des Moines Register. The cause of the collapse has yet to be revealed, as Tone Loc’s representative has not responded to requests for comment.
Tone Loc has collapsed on stage in the past. At a 2009 concert in Pensacola, Fla., he collapsed while suffering a seizure. The cause was determined to be overheating. The rapper also collapsed while attending a Los Angeles Lakers game in 1995. No cause was identified.
