Tom Hardy was asked about whether he was gay or straight during a press conference for the new film Legend to which he responded by dismissing the reporter’s question.

TOM HARDY DISMISSES QUESTION WHETHER GAY OR STRAIGHT

Twenty-eight minutes into a press conference for the movie Legend, a reporter for the LGBT news outlet Daily Xtra, Graeme Coleman, asked Hardy a question about whether he felt it was difficult for celebrities to open up about their sexuality.

“In the film, your character, Ronnie, is very open about his sexuality. But given interviews you’ve done in the past, your own sexuality seems a bit more ambiguous,” Coleman asked. “Do you find it hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?”

Hardy was confused. “What on earth are you on about?” he said, making the audience laugh.

Apparently, the question was prompted by an interview Hardy had given to Attitude a few years earlier. Still unsure what the question was, he asked Coleman to specify.

“I was wondering if you find it difficult for celebrities to talk about their sexuality,” Coleman reiterated.

“I don’t find it difficult for celebrities to talk about their sexuality,” Hardy responded, still confused. After a brief pause, he continued, “are you asking me about my sexuality?” to which Coleman merely said, “um, sure.” Hardy quickly dismissed Coleman, saying “thank you” and then continued with the conference.

Hardy is currently married to Charlotte Riley, and they are expecting a child.

Legend comes out October 2.
