Actor Tom Hanks shared on his Instagram account that he and his wife, Rita Wilson, have tested positive for the coronavirus. The couple are “in stable condition” at an Australian hospital.

“We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?” Hank shared on his Instagram.

Hanks and his wife are both 63, putting them both in a higher risk category. The disease COVID-19, caused by the corona virus, has a higher fatality rate for older individuals.

Hanks and Wilson were preparing to shoot an untitled Elvis Presley biopic in Australia when the actor made his announcement. The film’s expected release, October 2021, has suspended production.

Chet Hanks, the couple’s son, wrote on his Instagram that his parents are recovering well.

“I appreciate everyone’s concern and the well wishes but I think it’s all going to be alright but I appreciate it and just, everybody stay safe out there. Much love.”
