Chet Hanks, Tom Hank‘s son, talked to himself nonstop during a 2.5-hour hike.

The 32-year-old actor told his Instagram followers that he just went on a trek during which he “talked out loud for 2.5 hours straight.”

He said it was the “realest conversation” he had ever had, and “self-talk is everything.”

The following day he posted some wise words to those who may be struggling.

“The only thing harder than healing is not healing,” he said. “I know it’s been a long road for you. And the road is still long ahead. But all that matters is you’re still on it. Don’t give up.”

The young musician had his fair share of ups and downs.

In recent years, he has dealt with domestic violence accusations, which were denied, and charges of cultural appropriation.

He now celebrates one year of sobriety after dealing with years of substance abuse.

“All in. The decision was final. Never going back to that s–t. Ever. This is just the beginning,” he captioned a now-deleted photo of his progress.

In 2014, when he was 24 years old, Chet announced he went to rehab for cocaine addiction. He then praised AA and NA programs saying they have helped him tremendously, allowing him to “rise above this disease.”

Comedian Eric Andre recently described Chet as “emotionally disturbed” while working on his show.
