Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black have announced the birth of their first child, Robert Ray Black-Daley.
Daley, a 24-year-old Olympic diver, and Black, a 44-year-old screenwriter and producer, welcomed their son into the world this week through an Instagram post. Daley and Black, who were married in May 2017, agreed to name their son after Daley’s father, who passed away of brain cancer in 2011.
Speaking with The London Times back in April, Daley discussed how he and his husband both donated sperm to a surrogate, adding how a second child is something they’re open to having. “We found an egg donor and we are the sperm donors, we have fertilized half the eggs each,” Daley confirmed. “We put in a boy embryo and a girl embryo and we don’t know whose is whose. The next time we will do it the other way around.” While they wanted to keep the identity of their surrogate anonymous, they chatted “every day.”
