Actress Leah Remini split from the Church of Scientology last year and the major revelations she’s made about the infamously secretive church in her tell-all book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, have former friend and Scientology poster-boy, Tom Cruise furious, according to a published report.
In the book Remini pulls no punches, revealing intimate details of Cruise’s relationship with the church and giving a glimpse into the bizarre world in which the actor is entrenched. Remini writes of an incident in which the Mission Impossible star had a full-on meltdown and berated a female assistant for, he believed, failing to properly prepare cookie dough and screamed at her, “Get in the f—ing present time, is what you need to do,” before it emerged that the cookie dough was there in front of him.
An insider has told Us Magazine that Cruise is “freaking out” about the King Of Queens star’s allegations. “He thinks it’s a major betrayal,” the insider revealed. Remini also opened up about her relationship with Cruise and his former wife, Katie Holmes. Remini claims the couple reported her to the church for disorderly conduct at their wedding, which led to her getting landed in reprogramming (a kind of rehabilitation therapy for those the church believes to have misbehaved).
Holmes subsequently apologized to Remini for any suffering she might have caused her during their time in the church, writing in a statement, “I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future.”
The Church has dismissed Remini’s claims in a statement on its website. “Leah Remini has become what she once declared she never wanted to be known as: “this bitter ex-Scientologist.”
Cruise has yet to comment publicly on the scandal.
