Country singer Toby Keith joins the brief list of performers for Donald Trump‘s inauguration concert on Friday.
Keith joins 3 Doors Down, Lee Greenwood, The Piano Guys and the Frontmen of Country as headliners for the concert in front of the Lincoln Memorial on Jan. 19. Jennifer Holliday recently canceled her performance, saying her decision to agree was a “lapse in judgement.”
“President-elect Trump has made it clear that this inaugural is of, by, and for the American people. The 58th Inaugural will celebrate American history and heritage, while setting the course to a brighter and bolder future for all Americans,” said Tom Barrack, the chairman of the Presidential Inaugural Committee. “Above all, it will serve as tribute to one of our greatest attributes, the peaceful transition of partisan power.”
The show is called the “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration,” and will feature a speech by Trump as well as the musical acts. “I’m honored to be part of history again and sing for President-elect Donald Trump,” said Greenwood, who also performed at three previous inaugurations for Republican presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush. “This is a time to overcome challenges in our country and band together. My wife Kim and I are looking forward to the inauguration ceremonies.”
The actual inauguration ceremony will take place, as it historically does, on Jan. 20 at the Lincoln Memorial. Former America’s Got Talent contestant Jackie Evancho will sing the national anthem.
Many A-list celebrities and musicians turned down the transition team’s invitation to perform, including KISS, Elton John, Garth Brooks and Andrea Bocelli.
