TLC Pulls ’19 Kids & Counting’ Off The Air Amid Josh Duggar Child Molestation Scandal

19 Kids and Counting has been pulled off the air following the reports about Josh Duggar‘s history of child molestation.

TLC Pulls ’19 Kids & Counting’

TLC released a statement Friday announcing that they would be taking all episodes of 19 Kids and Counting from the air.

“Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of 19 Kids and Counting currently from the air,” the statement reads. “We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time.”

It is unclear what TLC’s longterm plan is for the reality TV show that follows the large evangelical family. No statements have been made about whether or not the network plans to cancel the show entirely, or if it will only be on hiatus.

Earlier this week, news reports confirmed that Josh Duggar, the eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, had molested a number of young girls when he was a teenager. The abuses, which apparently started in 2002, were brought to the parents’ attention, who then sought advice from church elders. Following the meeting with church elders, Josh Duggar was sent off to a treatment program.

Though it’s also been reported that Josh was also eventually brought to a police officer for a stern lecture about his offenses, he was never formally charged with child molestation and the statute of limitations prevents any charges from now being filed. Incidentally, the state trooper to whom Josh spoke with was subsequently brought up on child pornography charges.

In light of the reports of his teenage child molestation, Duggar has resigned from his position at the Family Research Council. He also released a statement on the matter, as did his parents and his wife, Anna Duggar.
