Titi Branch, who cofounded Miss Jessie’s hair care line for naturally curly hair with her sister Miko, died earlier this month. She was 45.

Miss Jessie’s Titi Branch Dies

Branch was found dead following an apparent suicide on Dec. 4. Her death was first reported in an obituary in NV magazine. A friend of the late entrepreneur confirmed the sad news to the Washington Post.

Miko Branch, Miss Jessie’s Salon and documentary director Andre Robert Lee all paid tribute to Titi Branch on social media. Lee uploaded a video he made in her honor.

Titi and Miko Branch opened their first salon in Brooklyn in 1997, dedicated to helping women style their naturally curly hair. By 2004, the sisters launched their product line, naming it after their grandmother. The product line, which became available first at Target before branching out to a variety of drug stores and boutiques, became popular with average customers and celebrities alike.

“I get so inspired when people meet us,” Titi Branch told Ozy last year. “It’s just a hair product but to them it’s so much more. It has such an impact.”
