Tina Fey Tells Americans To Avoid Neo-Nazi Rallies, Eat Cake Instead On ‘Weekend Update’

Tina Fey reunited with the Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” set as a guest on the summer edition of the show.

TINA FEY ON SNL “WEEKEND UPDATE”

She spoke as herself, a UVA graduate, about the reprehensible acts show of neo-Nazis in Charlottesville last weekend, where one anti-Nazi protestor was killed. “It broke my heart to see these evil forces descend on Charlottesville,” she said, “and then our president Donald John Trump, which I don’t think people talk enough about what a stupid jackass name that is, it does not flow.”

She commented on Trump’s words following the atrocity, ridiculing that he attributed violence to “many sides” instead of outright denouncing white supremacy. “No Colin, Nazis are always bad, I don’t care what you say,” she said, to which host Colin Jost replied, “well, I don’t say…” Even during the country’s darkest moments, SNL still manages to elicit laughs.

Fey mentioned that there will be nine more so-called alt-right rallies throughout the country this Saturday, and urged folks to stay home and avoid the violence. “Part of me hopes these neo-Nazis do try it in New York City, like, I hope they try it and get the ham salad kicked out of them by drag queens. ‘Cause you know what a drag queen still is? A 6-foot four black man,” she said, to host Michael Che‘s furious head nods.

“But at the same time,” she continues, “I don’t want any more good people to get hurt, and I know a lot of us are feeling anxious, and were asking ourselves,’What can I do, I’m just one person, what can I do?’ and so I would urge people this Saturday, instead of participating in the screaming matches and potential violence, find a local business you support, maybe a Jewish-run bakery or an African-American run bakery, order a cake with the American flag on it, and just eat it, Colin.”

A real cake is set in front of her, and Fey proceeds throughout the next three minutes of her appearance, ranting and eating cake: “And then the next time when you see a bunch of white boys, boys in polo shirts screaming about taking our country back, and you wanna scream, ‘it’s not our country, we stole it from the Native Americans, and when they have a peaceful protest at Standing Rock, we shoot at them with rubber bullets, but we let you chinless turds march through the streets with semi-automatic weapons.’ Don’t yell it at the Klan, yell it into the cake.”

She then turned her attention to the responses the rallies have been getting from the right. “Who drove the car into the crowd, Hillary’s emails?” she asked to cheers from the crowd. “I say, where’s Paul Ryan in all this?” she said, taking a stab at the Speaker of the House. “You’re supposed to be the cool young congressman, but you don’t know how to “at” somebody on Twitter? ‘Racism is bad @realDonaldTrump,’ you pussy.”

“In conclusion,” she finished up, “I really wanna say, to encourage good sane Americans to treat these rallies this weekend like the opening of a thoughtful movie with two female leads: don’t show up.”

Fey’s appearance on the show has already sparked a “sheetcaking” trend for this weekend, and as one Twitter user pointed out, “Bakeries are going to have loads of sheetcake orders.”
