Tina Fey Reveals Colin Quinn Called Her The C-Word On ‘SNL’

Tina Fey has revealed the inspiration for an episode of 30 Rock in which one of the male characters of the show brands her a see-you-next-Tuesday. In an interview with Howard Stern she called out Colin Quinn as the culprit of the offensive remark.

30 Rock frequently referenced real life moments in Fey’s career, the entire premise based on Fey’s time as head writer of SNL. In an episode entitled “The C-Word” which aired as part of the show’s first season back in 2006, Fey’s character, Liz Lemon, overhears Lutz calling her the offensive term in question.

Fey admitted in subsequent interviews that the moment derived from an incident during her time on SNL but hadn’t named the guilty party until now.

“I was trying to help [Quinn] with a show he was working on [and] I think his anxiety about the writing of the show spilled over,” Fey told Stern. She was dumbfounded by the incident and couldn’t fathom why Quinn had used such strong language against her. She did stress, however, that they have since made up.

Quinn was quick to publicly own up to his actions, tweeting:

“It’s all true. I have used profanity when I’ve been angry at people. When I was wrong ( as with Tina) I’ve said sorry to them.”
