Tina Fey brought back her Sarah Palin impression at the request of James Lipton on Inside The Actor’s Studio, proving she’s still got the former Governor’s shtick nailed.
Fey gamely agreed to answer questions in character as Palin. Lipton, asking about wolves, guns and same-sex marriage, certainly got a transport back to 2008 when the comedic actress made waves mimicking the former vice presidential candidate on Saturday Night Live.
The Admission star’s best Palin answer may have been to the question about gay marriage. “Marriage is meant for people who wear different kinds of swimsuits,” she deadpanned. Another good one-liner had to do with guns in the country. “If everybody had guns, then there would be fewer guns in the stores,” she asserted as Palin, who now famously said at CPAC, “[Todd’s] got the rifle, I’ve got the rack.”
Fey’s impression of Palin on SNL earned her an Emmy and gave the 30 Rock star widespread recognition. And, her recent turn as a Golden Globes host alongside fellow SNL alum Amy Poehler received rave reviews. Meanwhile, Palin went on to receive most of the blame for John McCain’s failed presidential run and to star in a reality TV show before defiantly slurping a Big Gulp (which she didn’t realize would have avoided Bloomberg’s drink ban) on the CPAC stage last week.
