Tina Desai looked chic at the New York premiere of The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel at the Ziegfeld Theater Thursday night.
Desai, 28, wowed in a monochrome ensemble that featured a black asymmetrical, off-the-shoulder cutout top and a white tea-length skirt. She wore Paul Andrew heels and styled her hair in an elegant up-do.

Desai had two breakout roles in 2011 – The Exotic Marigold Hotel and Bollywood’sYeh Faasley. Recently, the actress admitted that it has been harder to parlay the success into a career in Bollywood than in western cinema. “I don’t know why but Bollywood seems to be very hard to crack for me. I certainly hope I get big budget Bollywood films as soon as possible. I want to know what that complete Bollywood experience is,” she told the Times of India. “I have not had the experience of working in popular films in Bollywood. I absolutely look forward to such opportunities.”
Soon, Desai will be seen in the sci-fi drama series Sense8, created by The Matrix creators Andy and Lana Wachowski. She credits the first Marigold film for giving her the opportunity to star in the series, and for other opportunities as well
“Marigold definitely helped me further my career prospects in the west. If I hadn’t done the film, I wouldn’t have had any of those openings for me. There are thousands of actors who want to join the industry. But because of the film I got opportunities easily. I met casting directors, agents, producers. I am very grateful for that,” she said
Desai stars in The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, in theaters Friday, with Dev Patel, Richard Gere, Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Bill Nighy and Celia Imrie.
