On Christmas Day, Timbaland tweeted the gift of music to Aaliyah fans around the world 14 years after her death. Producer Timbaland dropped a previously recorded duet with the deceased star entitled, “Shakin” on his new mix tape, “King Stays King.”
The young star’s life was stopped short at the age of 22 while traveling by plane in the Bahamas. Before her untimely death, the singer worked with Timbaland on some of her biggest hits which included, “Try Again,” “Are You That Somebody,” and “I Am Music.”
“Aayliah… This is for you baby,” tweeted Timbaland with a link to “Shakin.”
Aayliah’s smooth, velvety voice sang true in “Shakin” alongside Timbaland and emcee, Strado. Considering it is a duet with two other musicians, the most attention is paid to Aayliah’s parts.
Even with the release of new music back in 2002 from Aayliah entitled, I Care 4 U, multiple other tracks were released after her death in 2001. Back in August, Timbaland teased new songs from the songstress. Other celebrities have also released songs from Aayliah, including one from Drake entitled, “Enough Said.”
Timbaland is set to release his forthcoming full-length album, Textbook Timbo, due out early next year with featuring artists including Young Thug, Migos, Rich Homie Quan, Tink, and 2 Chainz.
