Tim Conway, ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ Star, Dies At 85
Tim Conway, star of The Carol Burnett Show and voice of Barnacle Boy on Nickelodeon’s Spongebob Squarepants, died yesterday May 14 at the age of 85 due to complications with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, which is an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain that causes parts of it to enlarge.
Conway was born and raised in Ohio and after college, served in the Army for two years. After his two year service, he returned to Cleveland and began writing comedy for local TV stations. Conway eventually earned a spot on The Steve Allen’s Show on ABC, and soon after began starring on shows like McHale’s Navy and The Tim Conway Show, before finally joining The Carol Burnett Show. The 11 years that he spent on the show earned him four Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe.
Later in his career, he provided the voice for Barnacle Boy on Spongebob Squarepants.
Conway’s daughter Kelly released a statement saying, “The love he gave us, and the laughter he gave the world will never be replaced, but will be remembered forever. He is at peace now, but I will miss him every second of every day until we meet again in Heaven.”
Many celebrities paid tribute to Conway on social media, thanking him for his humor and for his loving heart.
You loved everyone you met and we loved you back. You were funny off-camera without always being “on.” You were a gentleman without a single mark against your good name. You were a comedy giant in the nice, compact-sized version. I will miss you… Rest in peace, Tim Conway. pic.twitter.com/xpHIGcycdC

The first time I can remember laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe was watching Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett show. Every character infused with a lovable crazy that broke me week after week. Timing, commitment and roll on the floor funny. Love Tim Conway, comic genius, RIP.
