A team of Joe Exotic supporters is en-route to Washington D.C. with a hope that President Donald Trump will pardon the star of the Netflix documentary, Tiger King. Exotic’s allies along with his legal team, hope to prove Exotic is a victim and that he was framed for his actions. The group is traveling on a bus that says, “President Trump please pardon Joe Exotic” on the side.
A reporter asked Trump last month if he would consider pardoning Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage.
“I know nothing about it,” Trump first said. The president then concluded he would take a look at the case.
Exotic is facing a 22-year sentence for federal wildlife violations and for attempting to hire a hitman to kill Carole Baskin, the founder of Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida.
A juror identified as Kristin, told Nancy Grace of Fox Nation in April, “Don’t believe everything you see because there was so much more to it than what they’re showing you.”
However, Exotic’s former colleagues believe that the star’s behavior was illegal.
Rick Kirkham called him “pure evil.” Kirkham is a TV producer who worked with Exotic and is featured in the Tiger King series.
The bus trip is being led by Eric Love who describes himself as a private investor and philanthropist. The team left for Washington early Monday morning and was scheduled to arrive in the District of Columbia, sometime Tuesday afternoon.
