Tia Mowry recently made it clear that she was neither pregnant, nor ashamed of the extra weight she’s recently put on.
Mowry, who is best known for starring on Sister, Sister with her twin Tamera Mowry, is tired of hearing speculation that she is expecting her second child with husband Cory Hardrict. While Mowry admits she’s gained a little bit of weight, she’s not upset or worried about it.
“Guys, I am not pregnant; I am just happy,” she revealed in a recent interview with the Huffington Post. “I’ve gained these extra 10-15 pounds because of my cooking show. … I’m just enjoying life and when I want to drop the pounds, I will, but right now I’m happy with who I am.”
Mowry believes that the inquiries into whether or not she’s with child have become offensive. “It is a form of body shaming, I will say that,” Mowry said. “And it’s pretty unfortunate.”
Like many women in the public eye, Mowry has taken on the call to be a voice that decries the exaltation of only slim women’s bodies.
“We need to be more supportive, you know, with body images, especially with women, showing that all sizes are beautiful,” she told HuffPost. “And I’m talking about in magazines, in advertisements in regards to what’s sexy and what’s not sexy. We all need to be a little more supportive of each other.”
Mowry and Hardrict are parents to four-year-old son Cree Taylor.
