The fifth bull run at Pamplona’s San Fermin Festival on Monday left three people, including an American, gored and three others with bruises said the Navarra regional government.
The government said a 25-year-old runner from Sunrise, Florida was gored in the calf in the bullring. The other two men, both Spaniards, were gored in the ring and one on the streets, sustaining mild injury.
It was the first run with gorings so far this year. Three more daily runs are set to commence before the annual festival wraps up on Thursday.
The other three runners were treated for fall injuries.
The event is about three minutes where hundreds of runners run alongside six fighting bulls throughout the city. The run ends at Pamplona’s bullring, where the bulls are killed by professional bullfighters.
Last week, at the first run, a 30-year-old American man fractured his left arm and a 16-year-old Spanish girl lost part of a finger in the bullring.
The event draws in thousands of visitors each year. Sixteen people have died in the bullrun since 1910, with the last death being in 2009.
