AMAs 2016: What Time Do They Start? And What Else You Need To Know

The AMAs will take place Sunday night in Los Angeles, and it’s an event you don’t want to miss. The show will air at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

Among the stars who will be performing are John Legend and Shawn Mendes who will sing solos, and Ariana Grande with Nicki Minaj who will perform their hit song “Side to Side.” Mendes is one of the singers who have never performed at the AMAs before, and will compete for a “New Artist of the Year” award. Maroon 5, Bruno Mars and The Weeknd are also scheduled to perform, along with many other well-known names like Shakira, Lady Gaga, Fifth Harmony, Justin Bieber and more.

One of the best things about the awards is that fans can vote on who wins, so be sure to support your favorite performer by voting on the AMA website.

This year, the show will be hosted by Gigi Hadid and Jay Pharoah. Hadid recently told Teen Vogue that she’s very excited to see so many of her favorite artists on stage. “I love Gaga and I think that she always brings something with so much heart. I’m very excited to see what she has for us,” the model said. Hadid’s boyfriend Zayn is also nominated for New Artist Of The Yearaward, so if he wins this will make for a sweet moment to witness.

Fun fact: The musician to have won the most AMAs to-date is the Michael Jackson, who was awarded 23 AMAs.
