‘The X-Files’ Debuts Season 10 Trailer At New York Comic Con

Beloved sci-fi television series The X-Files was a staple of television when it was shown for nine great seasons of extraterrestrial investigation between the dynamic duo of Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). The relationship between the two was at first a respectable one which would turn into romance towards the end of the series.

This past weekend at New York Comic Con, series creator Chris Carter and Duchovny introduced an enthused crowd to the first episode, titled My Struggle, for the new season, which will be part of six stand-alone episodes which will leave the future of the series open. A big detail that left the crowd in mixed feelings was the relationship between Mulder and Scully. “We wanted to be true to the passage of time,” Carter explained. “I was going under a bridge and on the bridge above us it said, ‘Life has many bumps in the road.’ I think Mulder and Scully hit one of those.” The episode introduces actor Joel McHale as televangelist Tad O’Malley who enlists in helping to tackle a conspiracy related to government surveillance.

Duchovny was the one who wanted to revive the series and really get the die-hard fans right back into it. “David, before the episodes, we spoke, and he said, ‘I think we have to come out and punch them in the mouth,'” said Carter. “We knew we need to make a statement, we needed to be bold, and we need to show we’re back.”

The new season of The X-Files will debut on Fox on Jan. 24, 2016.
