Singer Tom Parker, best known as a member of the popular British boy band The Wanted, has died after revealing he had an inoperable brain tumor in late 2020. The news was confirmed by his bandmates, along with his wife Kelsey Hardwick. Parker was 33.

In a statement posted to Instagram, Parker’s bandmates said the singer “passed away peacefully at lunchtime today surrounded by his family and his bandmates.” The group, which also consisted of Max GeorgeSiva KaneswaranJay McGuinness and Nathan Sykes remembered Parker fondly. “He was our brother, words can’t express the loss and sadness we feel. Always and forever in our hearts,” their statement added.

Parker first announced that he was suffering from stage 4 glioblastoma in 2020, and was diagnosed after he experienced two seizures. He even revealed in January of 2021 that he experienced a “significant reduction” in the tumor and that he is showing a “massive amount of progress physically but also mentally.”

The Wanted, who had their most popular years between 2010 and 2013 through releases of their debut single “All Time Low” and “Heart Vacancy,” went on an extended hiatus in 2014. They later reunited following Parker’s diagnosis to perform for cancer charity concerts in his honor and released several more singles and a greatest hits album through 2021. Throughout 2021, they raised money for several charities including Stand Up To Cancer, The National Brain Appearance and The Brain Tumour Charity.

Kelsey Hardwick remembered Tom as “the center of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.” Parker is survived by Hardwick, and their children Aurelia, two, and Bohdi, one.
